Where do you find MOTIVATION? | South Surrey’s Gym for Women

Are you struggling to find motivation?

What to do when you know you need to, but you do not feel like working out

Honestly, motivation isn’t something that can be found, rather it is usually prompted by some kind of extrinsic desire or life challenge.

You suddenly get motivation because you don’t like the way you look or feel. You get motivation because of a health scare. You get motivation because you want to impress someone. You get motivation because you want to lose weight. You get motivation because of an upcoming life event such as a wedding or holiday.

The reality is that you can’t rely on sudden bursts of motivation to reach your goals. You may use the motivation to propel you in the right direction, but you have to use discipline and find a supportive community to keep you on course.

“Goodbrand Fitness has a culture of good habits that enable and empower women to rise together. It’s peer pressure (the good kind) that continues to bring us back to classes every time! Nothing sustains motivation better than belonging to a tribe. It is the Goodbrand Fitness “tribe” that has a shared identity and goals of building strength, endurance, community and connection.”

~ Korina Busse

MOTIVATION IS WHAT GETS YOU STARTED. ROUTINE AND COMMUNITY IS WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING!

Top four tips to help with motivation

  1. Find someone who can hold you accountable. Find someone else who is motivated, someone who has similar goals or desires. Find a coach that you can count on to keep you accountable. All of the trainers at Goodbrand Fitness are supportive, enthusiastic, and will check in with you to ensure that you’re working to stick to your fitness goals.

  2. Schedule your workout. Find a time that you can consistently schedule in a workout. Our early morning, mid-morning, and evening classes are designed to meet the needs of busy women who are working to take better care of themselves. Once you schedule it, write it down, put it in your phone, and tell your family and friends that you’re busy during that hour. Schedule it regularly. When you put it into your schedule like an appointment, you’re less likely to double book yourself and more likely to follow through. Keep scheduling it until it’s just a part of your routine.

  3. Start small. Don’t schedule 5 workouts in your first week; start with 2 or 3 classes. You don’t need to go all out in your first few workouts. Starting with walking is great. Starting with 5lb weights is great. Starting with 30 minutes is great.

  4. When you really can’t find the motivation, sometimes you just have to dig deep and get it done. As mentioned, motivation is likely to wane, and if you’re counting on that motivation to get you through, you will ultimately fall off the tracks. Try the 10 minute rule. When you’re not feeling it, commit to exercising for 10 minutes. If you’re still struggling to get into it after 10 minutes, stop. More often than not, once you’ve gotten started you start regaining the motivation to continue.

At Goodbrand Fitness, South Surrey’s gym for women, we are a fitness community of like-minded women who encourage each other and support each other.

“I signed up with the commitment to myself that I would do 3 Boot Camp classes a week for one month. If I didn't like it I would move on. It's now been 3 months and I do 4-5 classes a week. I have lost some weight and some inches, I've stopped snoring, my clothes fit better, and yet my diet isn't as restrictive as it used to be.! I think the reason why I've stayed so committed is because of the help and encouragement from Gabby and the other trainers. They are right there with us, doing the classes, guiding us along, pushing us to go a bit harder and cheering for us when we do. It does feel like a community and I'm happy being a part of it.”

When you share your goals with others you’re more likely to feel a sense of responsibility and a need to keep a promise that you’ve made.

We offer modifications for each class so that you’re able to not only survive the workout, but thrive, no matter where you’re starting from. Do what you can to feel successful so that you’re motivated to do it again. When you’re proud of the work that you’ve done, you’re more likely to continue to do it and develop an intrinsic motivation! Check out our membership options.
